Bridge House School
Bridge House School is a distinctive independent, co-educational day and boarding school set on a beautiful 28-hectare farm in the Berg River Valley, about ten kilometres outside Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands – below the Groot Drakenstein Mountains and close to Stellenbosch and Paarl. Founded in 1995 by three local families, it opened with just 54 pupils and has grown into a vibrant community of around 800 girls and boys from Playschool to Grade 12, with family-style “home away from home” boarding from Grade 5.
Guided by its motto “Learning for Life” and a “seven bridges” philosophy, Bridge House describes itself as a sustainable, globally relevant learning community that nurtures the next generation of change-makers, leaders, innovators and conscious global citizens. A member of ISASA and the international Round Square organisation, it offers active international exchange programmes and conferences, an elected Student Leadership Council, and a strong commitment to sustainability woven through both the classroom and campus design.
Academically, the school delivers a holistic education aligned to the IEB curriculum, with small classes, individual attention and a record of academic excellence – a 100% IEB matric pass rate to date. Its setting also makes outdoor education central, with a wide range of camps and hikes forming an integral part of the programme.
Beyond academics, Bridge House offers excellent sporting and cultural facilities – including the Barnyard Theatre and modern boarding houses – and a broad range of team and individual sports, music, drama and the arts. Set in one of the most beautiful valleys in the Cape, it offers students a stimulating “home away from home.” Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
