Curro Westbrook
Curro Westbrook is an independent, co-educational school in the Westbrook Estate at Parsons Vlei, Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), and part of the national Curro group. Conveniently located off Cape Road and serving the surrounding estate and suburbs, it offers the full Curro education from its preschool (from three months old) and Grade R through the primary school to a high school running from Grade 8 to Grade 12. Teaching takes place in English, with isiXhosa offered in the primary years, and the school writes the IEB matric examination at the end of Grade 12.
Class sizes are capped at around 25 learners for individual attention, and the national CAPS curriculum is delivered through Curro’s signature project-based learning and self-discovery approach, with an emphasis on critical thinking, problem-solving and 21st-century skills. Robotics features as a subject throughout the school, alongside distinctive Science and Technology content, and the Curro Choice initiative offers additional subjects through live online lessons.
Academics are balanced with a full sporting and cultural programme – from swimming, chess and golf to creative arts, drama and journalism – supported by modern facilities including robotics, IT and science labs, a swimming pool, a golf chipping range and multipurpose sports fields. Recent fees rise to around R89,000 a year in Grade 12, making it a relatively cost-effective route to an IEB matric in the region. Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
