MANCOSA (Management College of Southern Africa)
The Management College of Southern Africa (MANCOSA) is a private higher education institution headquartered in central Durban and one of the largest providers of management education through supported distance learning in Southern Africa. It was established in 1995 as a post-apartheid empowerment institution, offering affordable and accessible management education – particularly to people previously denied access to postgraduate study. The college is wholly owned by previously disadvantaged individuals and today enrols well over 10,000 students, with learning centres in Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and other centres across the region.
MANCOSA is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training as a Private Higher Education Institution (registration number 2000/HE07/003), with its programmes accredited by the Higher Education Quality Committee of the Council on Higher Education and registered on the National Qualifications Framework by SAQA. It offers a full ladder of qualifications – from higher certificates and diplomas to bachelor’s degrees, honours degrees, postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees and a Doctorate in Business Administration – across business, commerce, public administration, education, IT and healthcare management.
Its flagship Master of Business Administration is consistently ranked among South Africa’s top MBA programmes, and its Durban-based Graduate School of Business has a strong research record. Since 2017, MANCOSA has been part of Honoris United Universities, a pan-African network of higher education institutions, giving its students an international dimension while retaining a strong local and regional focus. Its supported distance-learning model is especially suited to working professionals. Full programme, fee and admissions details are available directly from the institution.
