Micklefield School
Micklefield School is a small, independent primary school for girls in the heart of Rondebosch, Cape Town, educating pupils from Grade 00 to Grade 7. With a single class in each grade and a maximum of around 25 to 26 girls per class, it offers an intimate, family-like environment – fondly known as “the little school with the big heart” – where every girl is known and given the opportunity to shine. The school makes the most of single-sex education, providing a safe, nurturing space in which girls can develop self-confidence, creativity and independence.
Micklefield follows the national CAPS curriculum from Grade 00 to Grade 7, implemented creatively by a dedicated team of teachers and enriched with offerings such as craft, cooking, isiXhosa for second-language speakers, social entrepreneurship, conflict resolution, leadership development, blended learning and a dedicated thinking-skills programme. The school is at the forefront of classroom ICT integration and places a strong emphasis on music, drama and art. Girls are further supported by a multi-disciplinary team including a full-time learning-support therapist and an occupational therapist, with early screening in Grade 0 to identify any barriers to learning.
High academic standards mean Micklefield girls are thoroughly prepared for – and sought after by – the most prestigious high schools, while a rich co-curricular programme of sport, culture and outings develops well-rounded, considerate young citizens. Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
