Oakhill School
Oakhill School is a top independent, co-educational day school in the beautiful Garden Route town of Knysna, overlooking the Knysna estuary. Founded from an idea sown by pioneering parents in the early 1990s who wanted an excellent all-round education built on “joy in learning,” it today educates more than 460 pupils from Grade 000 to Grade 12, drawing families from Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and further afield – with a daily bus service connecting Plettenberg Bay and the school.
Oakhill is a “whole school” on one campus, comprising Little Oaks (its pre-preparatory phase), Oakhill Prep (Grades 1 to 7) and Oakhill College (Grades 8 to 12). It seeks to provide a broad, balanced education that is modern and relevant, integrating the academic, cultural, social, physical and spiritual development of each young person. A member of ISASA, the school follows the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) curriculum and has an outstanding academic record – a 100% IEB matric pass rate since its inception – supported by dedicated teachers, afternoon academic support and a Learning Support Unit.
Beyond the classroom, Oakhill enjoys a fine reputation in sport, music, art and drama. Its nearby 17-hectare sports campus features a water-based astroturf alongside rugby, soccer, cricket, netball and tennis fields, swimming and water polo, complemented by a range of Garden Route adventure sports. Vibrant, energetic and unafraid to challenge the status quo, Oakhill celebrates independent thinking and a love of learning. Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
