Reddam House Umhlanga
Reddam House Umhlanga is a premium co-educational private school set on 17 hectares in an indigenous coastal-forest setting near Umhlanga Ridge in Durban North, KwaZulu-Natal. It offers a continuous education from age 1 to Grade 12 across its Early Learning School, Preparatory School and College, seamlessly blending day and boarding schooling for around 1,100 students. The school was founded in 2003 as Umhlanga College – an initiative of Durban Girls’ College – added a high school in 2013, and in 2016 joined the world-renowned Reddam House group within the global Inspired Education network of more than 120 schools, opening a co-educational College boarding facility in 2019.
Regarded as one of Durban’s leading IEB schools, Reddam House Umhlanga is affiliated to the Independent Examinations Board and achieves outstanding matric results, including a 100% Bachelor’s-degree pass rate from its very first graduating class in 2017. It describes itself as “a non-traditional school with traditional values” – an education to be enjoyed rather than endured, free of fear or intimidation, with no student hierarchy – while upholding a distinctive Christian foundation, high standards of behaviour and a fair, consistent discipline code. A broad subject choice spans the sciences, humanities, languages, the arts and future-focused fields such as coding, robotics and engineering.
The campus boasts modern facilities, including sports fields, tennis courts, a 25-metre pool, an Olympic-size water polo pool and hockey astroturfs, supporting a rich programme of academics, performing arts, sport and philanthropy. Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
