St Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls is an independent Roman Catholic day school for girls in Boksburg, on Johannesburg’s East Rand (Ekurhuleni). Established in 1923 by the Dominican Sisters of Newcastle under Mother Rose Niland, it has more than a century of history and educates girls from Grade 0000 to Grade 12 – across a Pre-School, Junior School and Senior School – with a co-educational two-year-old “Doodlebug” class at the entry point. The school writes the IEB National Senior Certificate.

Rooted in the teachings of St Dominic and the Dominican Order, the school is built around a strong “St Dominic’s Family” ethos and Gospel values of justice, love, truth and respect for the dignity of each person. Girls of all religious denominations and races are warmly welcomed, with an emphasis on caring, understanding and tolerance within a Christian context.

As an all-girls school, St Dominic’s places girls “centre stage,” deliberately developing self-confidence and leadership – spiritually, academically, on the sports field and in cultural activities. It is known for high academic standards, supported by small classes (kept under 30) and the continuity of girls who progress from pre-school through to matric.

Co-curricular life is broad: sport includes hockey, netball, soccer, swimming, water polo, tennis, athletics, equestrian, karate and trail running, while culture spans music, drama, debating, coding and chess. Recent annual fees range from roughly R51,000 to R133,000 depending on grade; the school, voted Best in Ekurhuleni, provides full fee and admissions details on request.
