Tyger Valley College
Tyger Valley College is an independent, co-educational combined school in Shere, Pretoria East (close to Silver Lakes and Lynnwood), educating pupils from Grade 0000 through to Grade 12 across a Pre-Prep, Preparatory and High School. A member of ISASA and part of the ADvTECH group’s Centurus Colleges, it writes the IEB National Senior Certificate and operates within a Christian value system, guided by its motto “Through enjoyment to excellence.”
The school aims to develop confident, compassionate and multi-skilled lifelong learners through a holistic education that balances academics, sport, culture and service. Teaching is enriched by inquiry-based methods and cooperative (Kagan) strategies in the primary years, a forward-looking STEAM Hub with robotics, laser-cutting and 3D printing, and weekly Maths workshops included for all Grade 8 to 12 pupils. Tyger Valley is also proud to hold an International Green Flag for environmental awareness as an Eco-School, and community outreach is woven through school life.
Co-curricular life is vibrant: sport includes swimming (with strong gala results), soccer, hockey, chess and more, while the performing-arts programme spans choirs (the “Valley Voices”), bands, ensembles, dance and an annual school production.
Facilities are excellent, including a water-based, floodlit hockey Astro (2016), the heated 12m Pisces indoor pool for younger pupils, a 10-lane 25m outdoor heated pool for swimming and water polo, the STEAM and robotics lab, a multi-purpose hall and a dedicated early-learning “Cottage” for two-year-olds. Tyger Valley is a day school (no boarding). Recent annual fees range from roughly R57,000 in the early grades to around R132,000 in Grade 12, with sibling discounts and monthly payment options; full details are available from the school.
