Curro Hazeldean
Curro Hazeldean is an independent, co-educational, parallel-medium (English and Afrikaans) school in Hazeldean, Pretoria East – set near Silver Lakes between Faerie Glen and Lynnwood Ridge, and part of the Curro group. It educates learners from 12 months old through to Grade 12 across a preschool, primary and high school, and writes the IEB National Senior Certificate.
The school teaches the national CAPS curriculum through Curro’s project-based, self-discovery approach, with small classes (capped at around 25) for individual attention and a strong focus on 21st-century skills. Technology is integrated through tablets, Coding and Robotics and a STEAMD lab, with English, Afrikaans and isiZulu offered as additional languages; senior pupils can also take elective subjects taught live online by Curro teachers. As part of the Curro group, learners enjoy preference when applying to other schools in the group.
Beyond academics, Curro Hazeldean is known for a strong music programme – around 130 learners receive tuition across many instruments, entering UNISA, Trinity College and ABRSM exams and competing in eisteddfodau – alongside a full sport offering. Facilities are excellent, including an AstroTurf hockey pitch, cricket nets, tennis and netball courts, an eight-lane swimming pool and two multi-purpose sports fields.
For families who live far away, the school offers a comfortable boarding option throughout high school (with catered meals, laundry, Wi-Fi and supervision), as well as a transport service. Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
