Eden College Durban is a small, caring, independent and secular co-educational school in Glenmore, Durban, part of the Eden Schools group founded in 1974 and now operating in both Johannesburg and Durban. The Durban campus opened in 2007 – having previously been known as Crawford College Durban, and before that Carmel College – and educates just under 500 pupils from the Sunshine Group and Grade 000 right through to Grade 12, across its pre-primary, preparatory, middle school and college phases.

As a secular school, Eden celebrates the diversity of cultures in cosmopolitan South Africa and respects the religious practices and holidays of various faiths. It is geared towards pupils who value a small-school experience of excellence, where the emphasis is on personal attention – socially, emotionally and academically. Pupils write the National Senior Certificate, and since opening the school has maintained an excellent academic record, including a 100% pass rate, 100% university-exemption rate and an average of more than three distinctions per matriculant.

Eden offers a notably broad and flexible curriculum, with options ranging from isiZulu, Afrikaans, French and Hebrew to specialist Art, Dance, Drama, Music and Jewish Studies. It is especially well known for its cultural strength – with a thriving Music School (offering UNISA, Royal Schools and Trinity examinations), and a tradition of excellence in drama, debating, public speaking and dance, including local, national and international tours – alongside a full programme of sport. Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
