Felixton College
Felixton College is a small independent, co-educational day school in the secure, leafy sugar-cane village of Felixton, about 8 kilometres south of Empangeni on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast. Founded in 1996 out of a parental initiative to meet the demand for quality private schooling in the Empangeni and Richards Bay area, it educates children from preschool (Grade RRRR, from around 18 months) right through to Grade 12, within a gated village protected by an electric fence and controlled access points. Despite its small size, Felixton has built a strong reputation – and was voted Best Private Primary and High School in the 2025/2026 Best of Zululand Reader’s Choice Awards.
Guided by its values – “Honour God, Honour Others, Honour Self and Honour the Environment” – the school offers a close-knit, family-oriented education built on four pillars: academics, sport, culture and service. It is a member of the IEB, following the IEB syllabi from Grade 8 to the internationally recognised IEB matriculation examinations, and has an excellent matric pass rate since inception, with a rising number of distinctions and strong showings in the Maths, English and Afrikaans Olympiads. Small, air-conditioned classes, well-equipped science labs, a modern computer centre and a fully solar-powered campus support its academic strength.
Felixton punches well above its weight beyond the classroom too – recognised as the top cricketing school in Zululand and competing against much larger schools across rugby, hockey, swimming, netball, tennis and golf, alongside a vibrant cultural programme of drama, choir, marimba, debating and acclaimed dance shows. Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
