Elkanah House
Elkanah House is a dynamic independent, co-educational school in the beachside suburb of Blouberg on Cape Town’s West Coast, nurturing learners from Grade 000 to Grade 12 since 1997. Around 1,300 pupils are spread across four close-knit campuses – two preparatory schools (in Blouberg and Sunningdale), a senior primary and a high school – each with its own character and views towards Table Mountain. A proud member of ISASA, the school follows the IEB curriculum and writes the IEB matric examinations.
The name “Elkanah” means “God’s Creation,” and the school upholds Christian family values, aiming to grow confident, compassionate and creative young men and women. Its motto, “Carpe Diem” (Seize the Day), and its “Live, Love, Learn” ethos reflect a whole-child approach in a happy, relaxed yet purposeful environment built on clear expectations, consistent boundaries and committed support. Elkanah has earned an enviable reputation for academic excellence, supported by dedicated teachers and well-equipped facilities: pupils sit IEB-administered benchmarking tests in Grade 9, and in Grades 10 to 12 choose from a wide spectrum of subjects – including Advanced Programme Mathematics, the sciences, visual and dramatic arts, dance, design, music and information technology – through the broad, university-oriented IEB programme.
Beyond the classroom, Elkanah House offers a rich co-curricular life of sport, culture and community outreach, with pupils involved in service initiatives that support the wider Cape Town community. Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
