Redhill School is a distinctive independent, co-educational, secular school in Morningside, Sandton, with more than 115 years of history. Tracing its roots to 1907 – when it was founded as St Winifred’s School for Girls, later renamed Redhill in 1941 – it educates over 1,000 pupils, drawn from more than 30 nationalities, from pre-primary (age 3) to Grade 12, across an Early Learning Centre, Preparatory School, Middle School and High School. Its motto, “Free to Build,” and its tagline “South African roots, global wings” capture a progressive, future-focused ethos.

Redhill is unique in South Africa as the only school to offer students a choice between the IEB National Senior Certificate and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, and it also runs the IB Middle Years Programme for Grades 6 to 9. The Early Learning Centre is Reggio Emilia-inspired, and the school is known for a skills-based, critically minded approach – famously light on homework until the senior years – with an unbroken 100% matric pass rate stretching back decades.

The school is celebrated for both sport and the arts. Sporting facilities include a state-of-the-art Aquatic and High Performance Centre with a 10-lane floodlit pool and water polo, a hockey Astro and the annual Redhill Sports Festival, while a state-of-the-art music school offers tuition across orchestral and contemporary instruments. A Future Focus Centre supports self-directed learning through robotics, coding and 3D printing.

Set on a green campus of characterful red-brick buildings, Redhill is known as a warm, family-friendly school with strong teacher-pupil relationships, aftercare and a wide co-curricular programme. Recent annual fees run from roughly R121,000 in Grade R to around R190,000 in Grade 12; full fee and admissions details are available from the school.
