St Dominic’s Priory School is an independent, co-educational Catholic school in the Miramar suburb of Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), set in beautiful wood and parkland near Walmer. Founded in 1900, it educates boys and girls from Pre-Grade R (four-year-olds turning five) through to Matric across a pre-school, junior school and high school. Its roots reach back to 1867, when six Dominican foundresses sailed from Dublin to Port Elizabeth – a heritage the school honours in the names of its houses: Marcellin (after the founder of the Marist Brothers), Rosary (after the Holy Rosary Convent) and Trinity (after the amalgamated school from which today’s Priory descends).

Part of a Dominican educational tradition stretching back more than seven hundred years, the school lives by its motto Veritas (“Truth”). It serves the Catholic community but warmly welcomes pupils of all denominations and faiths, offering religious education and moral formation grounded in the teachings of Christ alongside a strong academic programme. Pupils write the IEB matric examination, and the school is committed to caring for the whole person – nurturing each child’s intellectual, spiritual, cultural, physical, emotional and social development in a happy, family atmosphere.

Small classes and dedicated teachers help every pupil realise their potential, with coding and robotics integrated from Grade R and modern science and computer laboratories, sports facilities and performing-arts spaces supporting a well-rounded education. Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
