The Bay Academy is an independent, co-educational, secular school in the seaside village of Hout Bay, Cape Town, founded in 2012. It is an “all-through” school set across two beautifully designed campuses: a Montessori Pre-Primary and Primary campus on Hout Bay Main Road, and a High School campus in Valley Road. Children progress seamlessly from the early years right through to Matric, drawing families from Hout Bay and surrounding areas such as Constantia, Llandudno, Camps Bay and Tokai.

The school’s distinctive model blends a Montessori Primary School with its High School, bridged by a Montessori-inspired middle-school approach. In the Pre-Primary and Primary years, child-centred Montessori methods nurture a love of learning in small, eco-friendly classrooms – each with its own garden for indoor-outdoor learning and a maximum of around 18 children per class. The High School follows the National Senior Certificate (CAPS) curriculum from Grade 7 to Matric, with internationally recognised Pearson Edexcel options such as the International GCSE and A Levels available for students seeking UK and European university pathways – opening doors to leading universities both locally and abroad.

Learning is flexible, deeply personalised and future-focused, with small classes, one-on-one mentorship, regular progress check-ins and powerful tools like MasterMaths and MasterScience integrated with AI-enhanced support. Languages include English, Afrikaans and Spanish, and a holistic programme spans creative arts, sport and clubs such as debating and chess, alongside a strong emphasis on emotional wellness. Recent fees range from roughly R49,000 to R118,000 a year; full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
