Bryanston Montessori School

Bryanston Montessori School is a well-established independent Montessori pre-primary school in Bryanston, Johannesburg, offering a warm, nurturing environment for children from around 18 months to 6 years of age. A member of the South African Montessori Association (SAMA), it has been running for well over a decade and follows the authentic SAMA Montessori curriculum across its Infant Community/Toddler (18 months to 3 years) and Pre-Primary (3 to 6 years) environments.

Rooted in the philosophy of Dr Maria Montessori, the school takes a practical, flexible and child-centred approach in which children learn by experience – moving freely around carefully prepared classrooms and choosing from a wide range of hands-on, self-correcting materials at their own pace. Mixed-age (vertical) grouping encourages cooperative learning and peer mentoring, while learning areas span Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics and Cultural subjects, alongside art, music and creative expression. The aim is to develop in each child a natural love of learning, together with confidence, self-respect, responsibility and care for others and the environment.
