St Henry’s Marist College is a leading independent, co-educational Catholic day school in Upper Glenwood, Durban, educating children from Grade 000 right through to Grade 12. It was founded in 1929 by the Marist Brothers – originally as St Henry’s Marist Brothers’ College – and continues a tradition of Marist education that began with Saint Marcellin Champagnat, who established the Brothers in rural France to educate the young, and whose followers reached South Africa in 1867. For close to a century, St Henry’s has carried that legacy forward in the heart of Durban.

Rooted in Catholic faith and the Marist charism, the school describes itself as “co-educational with traditional values,” guiding students to build strong relationships, embrace hard work, appreciate simplicity and live with love and compassion, all within a warm, inclusive community that celebrates diversity. As pupils move into the High School, the focus turns to preparing capable, articulate, compassionate and hopeful young adults equipped not just for university but for life.

Academically, St Henry’s has produced distinguished results for nine decades; it follows the national curriculum and writes the IEB (Independent Examinations Board) matriculation examinations, which emphasise critical thinking and independent analysis. Learning flows seamlessly through the Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary phases on one campus, complemented by a broad range of sporting and cultural extra-curricular activities that develop well-rounded individuals of character. Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
