Christian Brothers’ College Mount Edmund (CBC Mount Edmund) is an independent, English-medium Catholic co-educational school in Silverton, Pretoria. Founded on 8 September 1922 – originally as CBC St Gabriel’s – and part of the worldwide Edmund Rice network of Christian Brothers schools, it has more than 100 years of history and educates boys and girls from Grade RRR to Grade 12, making it the only co-educational combined Catholic school in Pretoria.

CBC Mount Edmund has long been known for inclusivity: it was the first boys’ school in Pretoria to open its doors to learners of all races, and expanded to admit girls in 1994. Rooted in Gospel values and the pillars of Faith, Leadership and Excellence, it offers a values-based, Christ-centred education with strong pastoral care – including full-time educational psychologists and a chaplain – and an active outreach ethos, supporting projects such as the Emmanuel Place of Hope pre-school in Soshanguve.

Academically the College writes the IEB National Senior Certificate, with a strong record and support programmes spanning further studies in Physics and Mathematics, Olympiads and wellness; academic scholarships are offered for Grade 8 entrants. Co-curricular life is broad, with sport including hockey, netball, basketball, swimming, soccer, softball, squash, cricket and athletics, and culture spanning debating, public speaking, drama, choir, chess and an art society.

Facilities include a gym, auditorium, media centre, physical and life-science laboratories, an innovation hub, a hospitality restaurant, a college chapel, multi-purpose courts and a swimming pool. Recent annual fees range from roughly R46,000 in the early grades to around R107,000 in the senior years; full details are available from the school.
