Stellenbosch Waldorf School

Stellenbosch Waldorf School is a small, independent, co-educational Waldorf (Steiner) school set on the Spier Wine Farm just outside Stellenbosch, in a beautiful corner of the Cape Winelands between the vineyards and the mountains. It educates children from the age of three – beginning in Playgroup and Kindergarten and moving through Primary School and into High School – on a full and dynamic Waldorf journey through to Class 12.

With around 140 learners drawn from diverse communities, the school offers an intimate, nurturing environment dedicated to the individual growth of each child into a competent, confident young adult with a strong sense of social and environmental responsibility. The Waldorf curriculum educates the whole child – balancing intellectual, artistic, practical and social development – with class teachers accompanying younger pupils and specialist teachers leading rich “main lesson” blocks in the high school, where critical thinking and independence become central. After completing the full Waldorf programme, students write the National Senior Certificate (NSC) as their school-leaving qualification.

Beyond academics, the school’s setting and ethos foster a deep connection to nature and community, complemented by creative and movement-based activities such as art, music and yoga.
