Curro Helderwyk is an independent, co-educational, English-medium school within the secure Helderwyk Estate in Brakpan, on Johannesburg’s East Rand, part of the Curro group. It educates learners from age two through to Grade 12 across a preschool (Curro Castle), primary school and high school, and writes the IEB National Senior Certificate.

As a Christian-based Curro school, it teaches the national CAPS curriculum through a project-based, self-discovery approach that promotes positive values, mutual respect and life skills, with small classes (capped at around 25) for individual attention and academic support where needed. The curriculum is enriched with future-focused and specialised subjects – including Robotics, Drone Technology, Engineering Graphics and Design, Visual Arts and Consumer Studies – and isiZulu is offered as an additional language; senior pupils can also take elective subjects taught live online by Curro teachers.

Academics are balanced with a wide variety of sport and culture, including soccer, netball, hockey, basketball, athletics, chess and drummies. The campus offers modern, state-of-the-art facilities, including a Robotics centre, an IT and computer centre, an Astroturf and brand-new basketball courts, set amid the attractive scenery of the estate.

The school also offers aftercare and a transport service, and – as part of the Curro group – learners enjoy preference when applying to other Curro schools. Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
