Generation Schools Somerset West
Generation Schools Somerset West is an independent, co-educational school set in the Helderberg basin of Somerset West, against a striking mountain backdrop. Part of the Generation Schools group, it opened in January 2021 on a modern, well-appointed campus – formerly a Reddam House school – that accommodates around 700 students from the age of about one (Early Learning) through to their final school years. The campus is notably well-resourced, featuring state-of-the-art classrooms, specialised science labs, an aquatic centre, a ballet room, art facilities, tennis courts and full-sized sporting fields, with a boarding facility nearby.
The school follows Generation’s distinctive multi-curricular model, integrating Montessori, Cambridge International and IEB pathways under the philosophy of offering one school with multiple exits. In the early and elementary years, Montessori principles foster curiosity, independence and self-directed learning in mixed-age groupings, while the senior school gives families an unusual breadth of choice: students can pursue the IEB National Senior Certificate, the globally recognised Cambridge AS and A-Level curriculum, or the school’s alternative “Sí” pathway. IEB subject options span the sciences, commerce, humanities and the arts, alongside Life Orientation and physical education for a well-rounded education.
This flexible, future-focused approach is designed to nurture intellectual curiosity, creative expression and leadership, preparing students to navigate a rapidly changing world. Beyond academics, learners benefit from extensive sporting and recreational facilities and a supportive community. Recent fees range from roughly R52,000 in the early grades to around R105,000 in the senior years; full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
