HeronBridge College
HeronBridge College is an independent, co-educational Christian school set on “country grounds” in Fourways, north of Johannesburg, where the two Jukskei rivers meet. Opened in 2001 and now a Curro Select School, it educates learners from age 3 through to Grade 12 across a preschool, primary and high school, and writes the IEB National Senior Certificate.
Founded on strong Christian principles, HeronBridge takes a “heart-led,” holistic approach aimed at developing well-rounded, happy and confident young people. Faith and service run through school life via an active chaplaincy and outreach programme – including mission trips, the on-site “Bridge of Hope” community store and Worldview studies – while a deliberate focus on social and emotional learning supports the development of the “whole child.” Controlled class sizes and bridging classes in the early grades allow for individual attention, and the curriculum even includes specialist subjects such as Engineering Graphics and Design and Robotics.
Sport and culture are extensive, spanning rugby, hockey, netball, basketball, soccer, mountain biking, drama, debating and more, with specialist coaching and excellent facilities. The campus is split across a school side and a dedicated sports campus, with an Astroturf, a floodlit rugby field, nine netball and tennis courts, soccer fields, volleyball and basketball courts, a mountain-biking route, climbing wall, heated pool and high-performance centre, plus the 600-seat Baobab auditorium, music rooms and a robotics lab. A boys’ boarding house caters for Grades 8 to 10. Scholarships are available, and full fee and admissions details are available from the school.
