Islamia College is an independent Islamic school in Lansdowne (Rondebosch East), Cape Town, and a long-established pillar of the city’s Muslim community. Founded in 1984 as the Habibia Girls College – beginning with just two grades and 47 students in the storeroom of the Habibia Masjid – it has grown enormously and is now based on a single campus on Imam Haron Road, educating more than 1,600 students. The College today comprises five components: a pre-primary school, a primary school, a Boys’ High School, a Girls’ High School, and a Hifth Academy for the memorisation of the Qur’an.

The school’s mission is to promote excellence through a holistic education that is compatible with Islamic principles and practices, empowering students to become confident ambassadors of Islam in whatever field they pursue. Islamia is registered with the Western Cape Education Department as an independent school and prepares learners through to the National Senior Certificate, with single-sex high schools fostering a focused learning environment for boys and girls respectively. Alongside academics, it places strong emphasis on a sound Islamic upbringing, character and leadership.

Distinguished by its shared values, strong sense of community and good interpersonal relationships, the College nurtures an embracing sense of global citizenship and respect for diverse heritage. It has a record of success across academia, sport, humanities and technology, supported by good facilities including its well-known hall and astroturf. Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
