King David Linksfield
King David Linksfield is a Jewish co-educational day school in Linksfield, north-eastern Johannesburg, and the founding campus of the King David Schools – the network of Jewish day schools run under the auspices of the South African Board of Jewish Education (SABJE). Established in 1948 as South Africa’s first Jewish day school (with the high school following in 1955), the Linksfield campus comprises a nursery, primary school and high school, educating pupils from pre-school through to Grade 12.
The school combines an excellent general, IEB-based education with the study of Hebrew, Jewish Studies and the living of the Jewish calendar and year cycle. Run along traditional Orthodox lines while welcoming students from all Jewish backgrounds, its goal is to produce graduates who are “menschen” – confident, proud of their Jewish heritage, with a love of learning and a commitment to contributing to society.
Academically King David Linksfield is one of the top IEB schools in the country, with historically very high pass rates and pupils regularly ranked among the best nationally; the King David Schools are consistently among the leading feeder schools to the University of the Witwatersrand. As a relatively large school, Linksfield is also known for fielding strong sports teams across cricket, soccer, netball, swimming, water polo, rugby, basketball, squash and more, while the KD Jam music centre and a wide cultural programme of drama, dance, debating and the arts round out school life. Community outreach – including enrichment and matric-support programmes for schools in Alexandra and Soweto – is integral to its ethos.
Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
