Southdowns College
Southdowns College is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school in Irene, Centurion, set beside the Southdowns Estate and the Irene farmlands along the Hennops River Valley. Founded in 2007 and part of the ADvTECH group’s Centurus Colleges, it is a member of ISASA and educates pupils from Grade 0000 right through to Grade 12, writing the IEB National Senior Certificate.
Guided by a Christian-based value system and the motto “Enlightened Minds,” Southdowns aims to provide a dynamic, progressive education that respects individual needs and embraces diversity, helping each pupil achieve their potential academically, physically, socially and spiritually. A peer-tutor programme offers additional academic support, and the school places strong emphasis on leadership development.
The college is well known for its facilities and its balanced programme of academics, sport, culture and adventure. Sport includes rugby, soccer, netball, swimming, chess, robotics, debating and public speaking, with the school performing strongly in regional competition. Cultural life is anchored by a purpose-built arena housing the school’s dance academy and music studios.
Set on an attractive, secure campus with modern primary and high-school buildings and extensive sporting and cultural facilities, Southdowns offers both day and boarding options. Details on fees and the admissions process are available directly from the school.
