SAHETI School
SAHETI School is a leading independent, co-educational, English-medium school in Senderwood, Bedfordview, on Johannesburg’s East Rand. Its name stands for the South African Hellenic Educational and Technical Institute, and it was founded in 1974 by a group of visionaries under the guidance of the renowned advocate George Bizos. Today it educates around 1,300 boys and girls from 18 months to Grade 12 – across a playschool, pre-primary, primary and high school – and writes the IEB National Senior Certificate.
Dedicated to the pursuit of excellence while promoting the ethos and values of Hellenism – including freedom, equality, democracy and citizenship – SAHETI takes its motto from the ancient Greek maxim “Know Thyself” (Γнῶθι σεαυτόν). Although rooted in Greek heritage and offering Modern Greek as a recognised additional language, it is a diverse, welcoming community ranked among the finest independent schools in the country.
Academically SAHETI is outstanding, with an unbroken 100% IEB matric pass rate and pupils who regularly achieve full-house distinctions and place among the top IEB candidates nationally. The school combines this academic strength with a rich co-curricular life of sport, music, drama, the arts and community and environmental initiatives, developing well-rounded young people.
Set on a spacious, attractive campus in Bedfordview, SAHETI offers modern teaching, sporting and cultural facilities and a strong sense of family and tradition. Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
