Cedar House School
Cedar House School is a small, independent, co-educational and proudly progressive school in Kenilworth, in Cape Town’s southern suburbs, educating learners from Grade 4 to Grade 12. With only a few hundred pupils, it is a deliberately intimate, relationship-centred community – “no stiff collars, no cookie-cutter experiences” – where the focus is on real young people growing into thoughtful, brave, caring and resilient adults.
Founded on a vision of creativity, independence and genuinely progressive educational practice, Cedar House combines academic rigour with the capacity to question, deliberate, debate and engage thoughtfully with a complex world. It follows the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) curriculum, which emphasises creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving, and learners write the IEB National Senior Certificate at the end of Grade 12. Small classes and dedicated, high-calibre teachers allow each learner’s individuality to be seen, heard and developed, in a nurturing environment built on hope, positivity and happiness.
Unashamedly future-oriented while privileging enduring values, the school aims to equip young people with the confidence to become happy, productive adults, supporting them academically, socially and emotionally. A creative, challenging and caring space where students think boldly and question bravely, Cedar House offers a distinctive alternative to more traditional schooling. Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
