El Shaddai Christian School (ESCS) is an independent, co-educational Christian school set among the rolling hills of Durbanville, in Cape Town’s northern suburbs. Established in 1993 by the El Shaddai Christian Church, it educates learners from Grade 00 to Grade 12 (ages 4 to 18) and partners closely with parents who want their children to receive a Biblically integrated education alongside academic excellence – a combination it sees as central to its identity. Around 430 learners are guided by the school’s mission to “grow, equip and send,” discipling young “image bearers” in mind, heart and character.

Academically, El Shaddai follows the internationally benchmarked British Cambridge curriculum, with students writing the Cambridge IGCSE in Grades 10 and 11 and the Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level in Grade 12 – qualifications recognised for university entry both in South Africa (through USAf and SAQA) and abroad. The school has a strong record, including students achieving Top in South Africa and Top in the World placements, and an easy transition for pupils from its Afrikaans primary classes into the English Cambridge programme in the senior grades.

Faith is woven through academics, sport and culture, complemented by Bible Education lessons, the “Homeslice” cross-grade peer-mentorship programme, and community outreach that sensitises pupils to the needs of others. Vibrant student-led events, camps and its flagship “99er” community cycling day round out a rich school life. Recent fees range from roughly R45,000 to R99,000 a year; full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
