Generation Schools Hermanus

Generation Schools Hermanus is an independent, co-educational school on the serene Overstrand coastline of Hermanus, established in 2017 as the second campus of the Generation Schools group. Its boutique campus – rich in outdoor spaces for play, sport and learning – caters for students from around 18 months through to their final school years, in a setting that fosters a deep appreciation of nature and a strong sense of community.

What sets Generation Schools apart is its distinctive multi-curricular model, which blends Montessori methodology with the Cambridge International curriculum under the philosophy of “one school, multiple exits.” Drawing on Montessori principles, learners work at their own pace in mixed-age groupings, choose their materials and workspace, and follow individualised learning plans in a learning-rich, multi-sensory environment that nurtures curiosity and independence. Academically, the Cambridge pathway offers IGCSE, AS and A Levels, leading to an internationally recognised matriculation that allows students to study anywhere in the world, while a vocationally focused alternative exit (the International Access Qualification) equips learners with future employment capabilities across fields from business and technology to sport and the arts.
