The Lycée Français Jules Verne is a French international school in Morningside, Sandton, with a second campus (the Miriam Makeba School) in Eastwood, Pretoria. Accredited under an agreement with the French Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) and part of its global network of more than 600 schools in 138 countries, it follows the French national curriculum and prepares students for the French Baccalauréat. The Johannesburg campus educates students from nursery (age 2) through to Grade 12 (Terminale), while the Pretoria campus runs from nursery to Grade 5.

Reopened in its modern form in 1992, the school today educates around 950 students representing more than 75 nationalities, operating as a single institution across two day campuses (there is no boarding). It offers fully bilingual teaching, with classes delivered in both French and English – an approach designed to build genuine bilingualism and intercultural understanding – and upholds the French educational values of laïcité (secularism) and respect for cultural diversity.

School life is rich beyond the classroom: there is a notably strong rugby tradition (including participation in international events and rugby as a high-school subject), alongside a broad AES extracurricular programme spanning sport, the arts, music, theatre, languages and sciences, plus student-governance councils and after-school care for younger children.

The green Johannesburg campus offers modern, adaptable classrooms, laboratories, a CDI media and library centre and quality sport and arts facilities. Recent annual fees range from roughly R94,000 in pre-primary to around R124,000 in Grades 10 to 12 (a canteen lunch is compulsory); full details are available from the school.
