Richfield Graduate Institute of Technology
Richfield Graduate Institute of Technology is one of South Africa’s largest private higher education institutions, with a national footprint of campuses and a strong online offering. It began in 1998 in Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal, as a computer training centre trading as PC Training and Business College, and grew steadily across the provinces before rebranding as Richfield. Today it delivers career-focused education to students nationwide, both on campus – with premium campuses in centres such as Durban (Musgrave), Umhlanga, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Centurion, Bryanston, Cape Town and Polokwane – and fully online.
Richfield is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training as a private higher education provider (registration number 2000/HE07/008) under the Higher Education Act, and as a private FET provider under the Further Education and Training Colleges Act (registration number 2008/FE07/050). It is accredited by the Council on Higher Education and Umalusi, with qualifications registered on the National Qualifications Framework by SAQA, and works with numerous SETAs. Programmes range from higher certificates and diplomas to degrees and postgraduate qualifications, concentrated in Information and Communications Technology, Business, Management and Economic Sciences.
A defining feature of Richfield is its focus on employability and practical skills: it embeds industry-recognised certifications from partners such as IBM, AWS, Cisco, Oracle and CIMA, and runs a compulsory Work Readiness Programme alongside work-integrated learning. Employer surveys have rated the great majority of Richfield graduates’ knowledge and technical skills as good to excellent. As a private institution, it does not receive NSFAS funding, but offers its own bursaries and flexible payment options. Full programme, fee and admissions details are available directly from the institution.
