Star College Pretoria
Star College Pretoria is an independent, English-medium school in Equestria, Pretoria, established by the Horizon Educational Trust – a non-profit trust that has been founding academically focused schools across South Africa since 1998. The school offers Grade RR to Grade 7 for both boys and girls, and a boys-only high school from Grade 8 to Grade 12. It follows the CAPS curriculum, with Grade 12 learners writing the IEB National Senior Certificate.
Star College places academics at its core, with a particular emphasis on Mathematics, Science and Computer Technology (STEM). It aims to develop young people with deep knowledge of the mathematical sciences and technology who can adapt to a global marketplace, and learners regularly take part in national and international Mathematics, Science and Computer Olympiads – with selected students sent abroad to compete. Smaller classes allow individual, personalised attention, contributing to high academic and behavioural standards, and free Saturday tuition and extra classes provide additional support.
The school’s holistic ethos nurtures each child’s moral, social, physical and academic wellbeing, irrespective of race, religion or background, teaching multiculturalism, diversity and universal values such as respect, cooperation, persistence and striving for excellence. Beyond academics, students enjoy leadership opportunities, character education and cultural activities – including a ballet and drama programme that has performed at the State Theatre – alongside science fairs and clubs.
Full fee and admissions details are available directly from the school.
